What to do in Suffolk this bank holiday

Aldeburgh Shell or Scallop Sculpture A sight worth seeing: The Aldeburgh Scallop

If you’re anything like me and always leave your bank holiday planning to the last minute, then here are a few events going on in our beautiful county.

Maui Waui Festival
Fri 25-Sun 27 August
Theberton
Still got a touch of festival fever? Head to Maui Waui this weekend for a line-up full of international and alternative music. From gypsy swing to big brass bands, circus tents to cabaret, there’s plenty going on throughout the weekend for the whole family. This year’s headliners include the Dutty Moonshine Big Band, Dreadzone and Cut Capers, but there are also plenty of up and coming local bands such as Fick as Fieves playing too (and my other half will be on the decks on Saturday night from 1am-2am so be sure to check him out too!).

Bury St Edmunds Food & Drink Festival
Sun 27-Mon 28 August
One of Suffolk’s biggest food & drink festivals, the whole town centre will be filled with local food producers selling their delicious wares. Watch celebrity chefs such as Jack Stein and Paul Rankin at the Stoves Cookery Theatre whipping up tempting dishes, and then head to the market to pick up the ingredients to make it at home yourself. Chefs from restaurants around the county will also be showing off their skills and providing tips and tricks.

Tractor Fair
Sat 26 August
Suffolk Food Hall
This event will be a great day out for families with vintage and modern tractors on show, as well as, the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, inflatables, Starglazing ceramic painting studio, off road assault course and Suffolk Punch prosecco bar. The day is all in aid of the Suffolk Community Foundation and runs from 10am-5pm.

Parkside Street Fair
Sun 27 August
Woodbridge
The independent shops on the Elmhurst Park end of the thoroughfare in Woodbridge have gathered together to form an initiative to promote that end of the high street. And on Sunday the shops will be hosting a street party with live music and DJs. The party will continue until late at The Red Lion.
